| Parents and staff
at Mount Eliza North Primary School work together to create opportunities
for our students to achieve and excel. Parent participation is an essential
component of our success. IN THE CLASSROOM An open door policy operates at Mount Eliza North Primary School. This means that parents are encouraged to come into grades, ask questions and assist. Parents may listen to individual or groups of children read. They can provide support for students during literacy, or numeracy sessions. Parents can type up stories for the children or assist the teacher by making up predetermined class activity sets. If a parent has a particular expertise s/he may like to share this with her/his child’s grade. BOOK CIRCLES Book Circles is a program that operates from grade 2 – 6 and is highly dependent on parent involvement. It involves parents working with a small group of children in a book discussion group. The parent guides the children into gaining a comprehensive understanding of the chosen book. If you love books then this is the program for you. P.M.P. The Perceptual Motor Program is run for children in their first year of Multi-Age. It assists in connecting physical movement to the language and maths concepts that students will encounter in the classroom. Parents supervise an activity station. Children rotate through activities that focus on balance, fitness, eye hand coordination, strength and fine motor skills. GARDENING & WORKING BEES Over the school holidays there are occasions where parent assistance may be required to help maintain the school’s garden beds. Throughout the term any Australian Native plant donations are greatly appreciated by the student gardening club. Throughout the year there will be opportunities for parents to come along to working bees and to assist with a variety of tasks to help maintain the ambience and presentation of the school. P.T.A. The Mount Eliza North Primary School Parent Teachers Association offers parents the chance to meet with other parents and work together to help fundraise for the school. SCHOOL COUNCIL The Mount Eliza North Primary School Council meets regularly to discuss issues relating to the school. Joining the School Council gives parents the chance to voice their opinions on the direction that the school is taking. SCHOOL BANKING Parents assist with the process of encouraging children to save by collecting, counting and banking deposits weekly. FUNDRAISING Throughout the year fundraising opportunities will be sent home to parents. Parental involvement in these fundraisers helps support children’s programs and school development. ART EXHIBITION The Mount Eliza North Art Exhibition is a show stopper. Held in October the Art Exhibition draws artists nationally and includes displays of painting, ceramics, craft and sculpture. Parent participation on the Art Exhibition committee helps to ensure the success of this event. Click here to visit the Art Exibition's Website |
