MENPS has been committed to teaching French as the LOTE subject since 1982. The program aims at familiarising students with French sounds and their spelling as well as using the French language through listening, speaking, reading and writing. The students learn greetings, classroom instructions, vocabulary related to their personal world and vocabulary related to the units of inquiry they are studying. They learn about French culture and food, about some of its history and geographical features.

The students are taught French in designated LOTE sessions. Many new students come to MENPS throughout the year and introductory classes for French have been made available to them after school.
