The Library

Mount Eliza North's Library Resource Centre has both on-line resources and a vast range of references, non-fiction and fiction resources. These highly selective collections of resources supports the school's International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program's Units of Inquiry.

The student Intranet connects our learners with ideas and information and prepares them for life-long learning and decision making, a love of books and the use of information technologies.

The students are provided with a Library research centre that has:

  • An environment which allows and encourages a desire to explore and share knowledge and ideas.
  • Resources which stimulate an appreciation of literature.
  • A broad range of picture story and fiction texts to stimulate imagination and love of literature in students.
  • Access to technologies that broadens their knowledge and enhances learning
  • Professional teacher-librarians who give guidance and knowledge in the techniques of accessing, retrieving, assessing and evaluating their research work, through prescribed literacy and research skills.
  • Materials that support the Units of Inquiry and classroom programs, enabling students to develop the skills necessary to gain information, acquire knowledge, understanding and use resources for personal growth and fulfilment
  • An aesthetically pleasing environment which is at the centre of the school, and supports use on a needs basis for individuals and groups for group or personal inquiries.
  • Access to the library at all times for browsing, borrowing and individual research.
