At Mount Eliza North Primary School, we offer many opportunities for gifted and talented students.

Tournament of the Minds is open to children in Years 6 and involves a competition held each year at the Victoria University. The children solve problems and teams are selected from interested children. Sessions are held at lunchtime.

Horizons –is an interest based program offering children a range of activities in Terms 2 & 3. Children from P-6 are able to choose activities offered in an activity book published at the beginning of Terms 2 & 3. Horizons is a lunchtime program.
Beyond Horizons is an after school program which offers more advanced activities for children with an intense interest in a particular area of the curriculum. We have offered Beyond Horizons sessions in Mathematics, Science and Art. These are advertised in Kalori at the start of Term 2 and Term 3.


Library – The Library is open three days a week at lunchtime for children interested in reading.

Book Circles – The Book Circle Program operates during school time, but outside classrooms. Three or four children and an adult choose a book and share the reading experience. Children are encouraged to express opinions and justify their views from evidence from the text.

Chess Club – The chess club operates once a week in Terms 2 & 3.

French excursion to New Caledonia – This is open to children in Years 5 & 6 and involves lessons outside of school hours which precede the trip to New Caledonia. This is advertised in Kalori. The trip usually takes place in September every second year.
