Performing Arts
Staff at Mount Eliza North Primary School believes children deserve every opportunity to perform in front of an audience and develop skills in the Arts. We support the philosophy that “Through performance we shine…”
Choirs
Singing is encouraged at Mount Eliza North Primary School. There are Multi-age, Middle School and Senior School Choirs in operating involving up to 300 children. The choirs perform at assemblies and musical evenings. The Senior School Choir is involved in yearly music exchanges with other schools and tours aged-care facilities and shopping centres around the Christmas season.
Musical Performances
Children can join the school band, ensemble, recorder groups and drum band during their primary school years all providing opportunities to perform at assemblies and music eisteddfods.
Junior Rock Eisteddfod
In Year 5 children participate in the Junior Rock Eisteddfod. It involves approximately 60 children and teachers organising an 8 minute performance of dance and movement to contemporary music. The event is held at Vodafone Arena and involves up to 8 schools a night over a 5 day schedule.
Year 6 Musical
An annual production is performed every year and involves all Year 6 students. It is developed over a 3 month period and has 5 performances for parents, students and the wider school community.
After School Music Lessons – these sessions are available for a whole range of instruments and occur after school. Mrs Ross is the contact person for these sessions.

Visual arts

The guiding principle of the visual arts program at Mt Eliza North is the 4 E's: Experience, Experiment, Explore and Express. Children are introduced to a wide variety of experiences using different materials and techniques so that they can then choose the medium best suited to the individual for his or her own self expression. The program is delivered mostly in French in a Content-based language program as demonstrations of activities and materials are basically self descriptive. Children are able to absorb, and are encouraged to use both specific and incidental language. As with their art work, this enhances their communication and expression skills.
